Pantoprazole
Indications/Uses
Short term treatment (7-10 days) of GERD associated w/ a history of erosive esophagitis. Pathological hypersecretion conditions including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Gastric & duodenal ulcer, reflux esophagitis 40 mg once daily by IV infusion for 7-10 days. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome & other conditions producing too much acid in the stomach 80 mg daily dose.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Moderately severe hepatic or renal impairment.
Special Precautions
Not indicated for mild GI complaints eg, nervous dyspepsia, liver disease. Gastric ulcer malignancy or malignant disease of the esophagus should not be excluded prior to treatment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Drug Interactions
Reduced absorption of drugs w/ pH-dependent bioavailability (eg, ketoconazole). Interference w/ antiretroviral therapy, anticoagulants, clopidogrel, MTX.
